Description

"All the engravings I have made from 1960 until today are part of the series Paisajes de Euskadi (Landscapes of the Basque Country). This definition may be an overly professional term used by painters; it is the real landscape, the geographic, political, social and human landscape, the national situation, the strangeness of the nation; it is the complete landscape of all of Basque society, even of aspects of Basque culture. It is clear that repression, the oppressed masses and the violence of the regime abound in this long series of engravings. They are the signs revealing the situation in which we lived; they are the almost exclusive features of an era." (Agustín Ibarrola)
